Body myostimulation is the fast path to health

Currently, body myostimulation is becoming one of the most popular medical procedures. It is used not only for beauty but also for improving muscle tone.

Myostimulation is the exposure on muscle tissue with impulses of electric current. For this purpose, special devices called myostimulators are used. They are able to generate electrical impulses that stimulate muscle fiber contraction. The fact is that the impulse method of exposure has the maximum similarity with the passage of signals sent by the nervous system. This approach makes stimulation a more natural way to achieve the desired results.

Under the effect of an electric current, muscles contract while they actively consume nutrients. However, this does not mean that this methodology completely replaces conventional physical exercises.

Why myostimulation is useful

This method was originally developed for medical purposes rather than equipping treatment rooms in beauty salons. The primary goal of muscle myostimulation is to increase the tone when they are weakened, flabby, paralyzed and lethargic. After passing through a number of procedures, partial recovery of working capacity is achieved, for example, after prolonged illnesses accompanied by reduced physical activity or its complete absence.

With the development of cosmetology, the myostimulation effect has found application for restoring body aesthetics. Regular myostimulation has proven efficiency in cleansing muscle tissue from toxins followed by saturation with nutrients and oxygen. As a result, an increase in skin elasticity is achieved, the skin acquires a healthy structure and color. The body's ability to regenerate is improved. Muscles lose excess fat which accumulates in the form of deposits. Thus, it is obvious that myostimulation for weight loss will effectively fight cellulite.

Indications for electromyostimulation

In addition to actually strengthening the muscles and building additional muscle mass, massage with myostimulation shows a positive result in the treatment of various diseases:

  • diseases of the gastrointestinal tract;
  • bedsores;
  • chronic non-healing wounds;
  • pathological diseases of the nervous system;
  • cardiovascular diseases;
  • problems with blood vessels and joints.

Often the procedure is prescribed if necessary to strengthen the back muscle corset. Face and body myostimulation can eliminate swelling and improve blood circulation and lymph flow. It can also be used to eliminate the following symptoms:

  • insufficient volume of muscle mass and individual muscles;
  • cellulite and excess fat deposits;
  • weak muscle tone in the area of the thighs, legs, buttocks, abdomen;
  • violation of posture in osteochondrosis.

How myostimulation procedure is performed

What is body myostimulation? A myostimulator apparatus with electrodes is installed on the zone requiring study. The skin is pre-cleaned, then a special electrically conductive gel is applied. Based on cosmetological or therapeutic effects that need to be achieved, electrodes are placed on the patient's body. They are fixed with the help of special elastic belts.

Next, a suitable program is selected and current is applied. The average duration of the procedure is usually 15 minutes. Painful sensations can be experienced, especially during the first session.

Upon completion of the procedure, the electrodes are removed, the gel is washed off.

How many myostimulation procedures are needed

The standard course of treatment involves the passage of at least 10 procedures after which they take a break of at least six months. The interval between sessions is chosen so that the muscles have time to recover after exercise. Usually it is 2-3 days.

The effectiveness of myostimulation depends not only on how often the procedure has to be done. The type of equipment used also plays a significant role. Myostimulation for cellulite can be carried out at home, so it might be reasonable to purchase an inexpensive household device. More powerful professional equipment is used for full-fledged body myostimulation, this is the best choice if you need to achieve a faster result of body shaping.

What are the contraindications for myostimulation? This procedure can only be harmful if the uncertified equipment is used by insufficiently qualified personnel. The most common causes of causing injury are:

  • improper installation of electrodes which can lead to the passage of current through the heart muscle;
  • incorrect selection of the program;
  • the presence of acute and chronic diseases.

There are also a number of contraindications:

  • heart disease;
  • installed pacemaker;
  • epileptic attacks;
  • alcoholism;
  • mental illness and disorders;
  • skin diseases;
  • presence of foci of inflammation;
  • varicose veins;
  • thrombophlebitis and circulatory disorders;
  • pregnancy.

If you decide to engage in electrostimulating massage on your own, we recommend that you first consult with specialists in order to have complete confidence in the safety of the procedure. This method of treatment is perfectly complemented by myofascial massage. How often can myofascial body massage be done? On average, a course of 10 procedures is sufficient to achieve the effect.
