Every woman wants to preserve her youth. It is precisely to fulfill this cherished dream that women around the world, in SPA salons and beauty clinics alike, have access to a wide range of special facial treatments and body that truly help prolong youth, even in more advanced cases. In our blog, we have repeatedly written about how important it is not only to visit beauty procedures but also to maintain high-quality home care.
Facial skin is extremely sensitive to all the stresses the body experiences. Stress, lack of sleep, age-related changes, smoking and alcohol, and poor nutrition all lead to a deterioration in skin tone, the appearance of fine wrinkles, and puffiness. As a result, a woman may begin to look several years older. There are many at-home cosmetic procedures that can restore a healthy and attractive appearance to the skin. One of the simplest is facial self-massage, which can be performed at home without professional assistance.
This wonderful procedure affects not only epidermal cells but also reaches deeper layers of the skin. Massage helps strengthen weakened muscles, resulting in firmer skin and more defined facial contours. After several sessions, skin looseness decreases, lymphatic drainage and excess fluid removal improve, and under-eye puffiness is significantly reduced. Increased blood circulation through different techniques raises oxygen levels in the cells, improving their nourishment. The skin gains a healthy, radiant tone.

Before performing self-massage, it is important to test the skin’s reaction to stimulation. A simple skin test can be done by drawing a line on any area of the body with a blunt object until a red mark appears. If the mark does not disappear for a long time, this may indicate vascular issues, and the procedure should not be performed. Massage is also prohibited if there are cuts, burns, allergic reactions, or skin diseases on the face.

Facial self-massage is recommended to be performed daily with consistency. In this case, results may be noticeable within just a few days. Before starting, the skin must be cleansed of sebum and impurities. A cleansing lotion is best for this purpose. Hands must also be clean. To improve glide, a small amount of cosmetic oil or moisturizing cream should be applied.
1) Universal method – performed with light fingertip movements. The massage includes stroking, gentle kneading, tapping, and vibration. The forehead and cheeks are massaged with light outward movements from the center of the face toward the temples. The eye area is treated with minimal pressure, moving from the inner corner of the eye outward along the upper eyelid and in reverse along the lower eyelid. The procedure begins and ends with gentle stroking.
2) Jawline correction method – performed by tapping the chin area with the back of the hand. It helps lift the lower part of the face and reduce fat contributing to a “double chin.”
3) Japanese technique – Asahi – performed using three middle fingers. The effect is achieved through pressure on specific points. Numerous detailed videos are available online demonstrating proper execution.
4) Chinese technique – performed using pinching movements along clearly defined massage lines.

To enhance lymph and blood drainage from the head, it is recommended to perform a neck and shoulder self-massage before facial massage.
